Describe your business, nonprofit or project, and the products and/or services you offer?
Coffee With Ella is inspired by the best parts of a coffee shop. It is an online and in-person creative community for women of colour writers — and the creatively curious — to curate a creative life, on and off the page. Founded by writer, mother and all-round alchemist Ella Achola, Coffee With Ella helps women move beyond inherited expectations, reconnect with their creativity and build lives that feel more intentional, expansive and their own. Offerings currently include: The Espresso Collective — a monthly writers’ salon for women of colour The Pour Over — a guided journey through the creative process Private Sessions — 1:1 coaching for women ready for deeper change Workshops + speaking for organisations and communities At the heart of it all is one question: What becomes possible when we are given space to dream more freely — and live accordingly?
Are you Caribbean or African, or of Caribbean or African descent? If you are, please tell us details.
Yes — I’m mixed race.
Do you think your Caribbean or African upbringing/heritage has impacted your work? If so, please explain how.
Absolutely. My heritage has shaped both my values and the communities I feel most called to serve. It has given me a deep awareness of identity, belonging, resilience and the importance of spaces where women of colour feel seen, safe and free to be fully themselves. It also means I understand how often talented women are navigating inherited expectations, over-responsibility or pressure to be everything for everyone. Creating spaces where women of African and Caribbean descent can choose themselves, trust themselves and live more joyfully feels deeply meaningful to me.
How does your work positively impact culture + community?
My work creates spaces where women of colour can pause, reconnect with themselves and dream up lives beyond survival mode. That might look like returning to writing, trusting their voice, setting healthier boundaries, pursuing creative ambitions or simply feeling more like themselves again. I believe there is real power in women who feel free, expressed and self-led. When one woman chooses a more expansive life, it often creates a ripple effect through families, friendships, workplaces and wider communities — shaping what feels possible for others, too.
How should potential customers and persons interested in networking & partnerships contact you?

What message of hope or inspiration would you like to share with other women in our community who are also pursuing their dreams?
If something feels off, even when life looks “right” on paper, it’s worth listening to.
Sometimes we do everything we were told to do — get the grades, build the career, follow the rules — and still find ourselves asking, “is this really it?”
That feeling is not you being ungrateful or unrealistic. It may simply be the part of you that knows there is another way.
So come back to what once lit you up. Follow the breadcrumbs of what feels interesting or exciting. Try things on. Keep what feels like you.
You do not need the whole plan before you begin.
A life that feels more like your own is allowed — one that feels deliciously yours, even on an ordinary Tuesday.
