Describe your business, nonprofit or project, and the products and/or services you offer?
Archived by the City College of New York, BE is a journal that investigates Black experimental and interdisciplinary work. We hold readings and publish a range of hybrid nonfiction and fiction as well as images, video, and audio texts. We hope that this journal will support those writing about the Black avant-garde. Our advisory board includes Dr. Irwin Leopando and the English Dept of LaGuardia Community College; Faith Adiele, Writer, Journalist, and Associate Professor, California College of the Arts; Reynaldo Anderson, Scholar and Associate Professor, Temple University; Jacquelyn Bishop, Poet, Visual Artist, and Associate Professor, New York University; Duriel Harris, Poet and EIC of Obsidian; John Keene, Writer and Professor at Rutgers University; Kyla Marshell, Poet, Journalist, and Memoirist; Opal Moore, Poet/former Dir. Honors Program, Spelman College; Asali Solomon, Writer and Associate Professor, Haverford College Black Book Interactive Project and AfroPWW 2 Publishing Without Walls, along with the Mellon Foundation, the University of Kansas, and the University of Illinois. Yes. The editors all have African ancestry, and we accept work from anyone creating strong writing about the African Diaspora.
