Archived by the City College of New York, BE is a journal that investigates Black experimental and interdisciplinary work. We hold readings and publish a range of hybrid nonfiction and fiction as well as images, video, and audio texts. We hope that this journal will support those writing about the Black avant-garde. Our advisory board includes Dr. Irwin Leopando and the English Dept of LaGuardia Community College; Faith Adiele, Writer, Journalist, and Associate Professor, California College of the Arts; Reynaldo Anderson, Scholar and Associate Professor, Temple University; Jacquelyn Bishop, Poet, Visual Artist, and Associate Professor, New York University; Duriel Harris, Poet and EIC of Obsidian; John Keene, Writer and Professor at Rutgers University; Kyla Marshell, Poet, Journalist, and Memoirist; Opal Moore, Poet/former Dir. Honors Program, Spelman College; Asali Solomon, Writer and Associate Professor, Haverford College Black Book Interactive Project and AfroPWW 2 Publishing Without Walls, along with the Mellon Foundation, the University of Kansas, and the University of Illinois.
