Describe your business, nonprofit or project, and the products and/or services you offer?
In the vibrant world of “This Is How I Sunday,” our journey begins with me, Sasha, and my brother, Robert, inspired by the rich tapestry of Haitian culture. Born from a passion to celebrate our heritage, our brand is a testament to the unbreakable bond between siblings and a tribute to the memories we crafted in Haiti’s sun-soaked landscapes.

Imagine a world where Sundays are more than just a day; they are a feeling—a warm, radiant embrace encapsulating the essence of Haitian culture. This is the heart of “This Is How I Sunday.” We drew from our cherished memories to create a brand that transcends products. It’s an experience, a journey through Haiti’s vibrant streets, lively markets, and peaceful homes, capturing the spirit of a culture known for its resilience and joy.

Our range of home fragrances, tea, candles, and loungewear each item is a tribute to Haiti, mirroring its beauty, colors, and rich heritage. Our scents bring to mind the Haitian breeze, spiced and sweet, while our loungewear features artistic and cultural symbols of Haiti.

But “This Is How I Sunday” is more than a brand. It’s a narrative woven into every product. Each fragrance bottle, each fabric, tells a story of childhood memories, family bonds, and the indomitable Haitian spirit. These items are not just products; they are carriers of culture, mementos of a vibrant, resilient land deeply rooted in tradition.

Our mission, driven by me and honoring my brother’s legacy, goes beyond commerce. “This Is How I Sunday” is a beacon of community support, uplifting local artisans, championing sustainability, and sharing Haitian culture with the world. It’s a brand that cares deeply, connects meaningfully, and possesses a soul.

Embracing the Sunday Life means more than purchasing a product. You are partaking in a culture, a story, and the dream of two siblings who brought their vision of Haiti to life. This brand is a celebration of our way of Sundaying, inviting you to experience the joy, warmth, and heart of Haiti in your home.
Are you Caribbean or African, or of Caribbean or African descent? If you are, please tell us details.
Yes, I am of Caribbean descent. As a first-generation Haitian American, my cultural roots are deeply intertwined with the traditions and values of the Caribbean. Growing up, I was immersed in the rich heritage of Haiti, which has profoundly influenced both my personal life and professional endeavors. My connection to the Caribbean is a source of pride and inspiration, driving me to incorporate elements of my heritage into my brand, from product formulations to the stories we tell through our marketing.
Do you think your Caribbean or African upbringing/heritage has impacted your work? If so, please explain how.
Absolutely, my Caribbean heritage has significantly shaped the ethos and aesthetic of “This Is How I Sunday.” The vibrant colors, natural beauty, and resilience of the Caribbean people are reflected in our product offerings and brand narrative. The use of ingredients like coconut oil and the incorporation of traditional scents such as Jacmel Sunset pay homage to the cultural practices I grew up with.

I grew up in Haiti, and so much of who I am is based on the culture, the food, the vibes, the colors, and more. My upbringing instilled in me a sense of community, wellness, and sustainability, which are core values of my business. Through “This Is How I Sunday,” I aim to give the Haitian diaspora pride in their country and provide scents that evoke great memories.
How does your work positively impact culture + community?
“This Is How I Sunday” strives to uplift and celebrate Caribbean culture through every aspect of our brand. By offering products that are not only luxurious but also eco-friendly and rooted in natural ingredients, we are promoting healthier lifestyles and environmentally conscious practices within our community.

We also actively collaborate with Caribbean artisans and entrepreneurs, providing them with a platform to showcase their work to a broader audience. Through our events and educational content, we foster a sense of community and cultural pride, inspiring others to embrace their heritage while contributing to a more sustainable future. When people use our products, I feel giddy like a schoolgirl, knowing that the scents can instantly unlock cherished memories and connect them to the essence of Haiti.
