Describe your business, nonprofit or project, and the products and/or services you offer?
Creating Gray Spaces is a nonprofit committed to assisting individuals of all ages in reaching their creative, educational, and professional goals. We specialize in graphic design, art show curating, self publishing and writing projects, and academic assistance. Though we each walk unique paths, what is common to the human experience is that we all go through times of transformation and transition. These periods are often the most challenging, but also where we have the greatest opportunity to recreate ourselves and find our unique purposes! “Creating Gray Spaces” refers to these transitional periods in life, where we may need a helping hand and the support of the community around us.

We are a group of diverse women that have come together to create a place where you can receive assistance with your educational, graphic design, art, and writing/publishing needs.

Graphic Design – Graphic design can be expensive. A fresh and eye-catching design is a must in this competitive space. We assist with designing logos, website design, marketing materials, and more, to help clients build their brands.

Writing and Publishing – We help clients who are interested in self-publishing their books, or those who would
simply like to improve their writing skills. With our extensive experience in writing, editing, proofreading, communications, graphic design, and working with Print on Demand (POD) platforms, our professionals give guidance on managing projects from conception to completion.

Education – With more than 15 years of experience, we have perfected our services to help meet the needs of our clients, leading them to success. We offer Math and English tutoring and have extensive experience working with students who have dyslexia. We closely monitor student progress and make necessary adjustments so that each student stays on track and shows growth. We tailor our services to meet individual client’s needs. Whether children attend a traditional or private school, or is home-schooled, we will devise a plan that works best for the clients’ lifestyle.

We have helped clients publish their books, feature their art at art shows, and taken clients from struggling with writing basic sentences to writing essays. A strong community depends on people with a healthy work/life balance. We aim to strengthen communities by fostering a sense of unity, empowerment, and resilience. Creativity nurtures innovation and expression, while education empowers people with knowledge, skills, and critical thinking, which results in people who are engaged citizens who give back to their community.
Are you Caribbean or African, or of Caribbean or African descent? If you are, please tell us details.
Yes. I was born in The Bahamas. I have dual citizenship in The Bahamas and the United States of America. I currently reside in Fort Worth, Texas.
Do you think your Caribbean or African upbringing/heritage has impacted your work? If so, please explain how.
Yes I do. As a graphic designer, I use a lot of color in my artwork and that influence comes directly from my Bahamian roots. Island life is very slow, so that has influenced my perspective on how to communicate and work with people. The Bahamian educational system that I grew up in taught me a lot about being respectful to others, particularly how to honor my elders. The island life still reflects the African proverb that says, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I still carry that way of thinking with me today.
How does your work positively impact culture + community?
My goal is to build a community of like-minded people who are interested in helping each other. Paying it forward, is important to me. As a professional, I aim to create more than just fleeting business associations with clients. My goal is to foster enduring relationships that not only meet immediate needs, but also inspire clients to extend a helping hand to others. For me, making a difference in the lives of others is about building a lasting community
How should potential customers and persons interested in networking & partnerships contact you?

What message of hope or inspiration would you like to share with other women in our community who are also pursuing their dreams?
Chasing your dreams isn’t something you do alone, and can be pursued at any stage of your life. It is important to connect with others in your community as you follow your passions, which creates a positive ripple effect.  People from all walks of life have unique skills that they can contribute, and it is essential to be patient and kind to ourselves and others while taking this journey. When we work together, we can create something truly amazing and contribute to the overall greatness of our community.
