Describe your business, nonprofit or project, and the products and/or services you offer?
Overage Surplus Recovery is a mission-driven business focused on helping individuals and families reclaim excess funds from tax and mortgage foreclosures. We offer a holistic approach that includes asset recovery, credit restoration, and financial planning services. Our goal is to empower those affected by foreclosure, helping them recover what is rightfully theirs and providing guidance to avoid future financial pitfalls.

SERVICES
Surplus Fund Recovery: We specialize in helping homeowners and their heirs recover surplus funds that result from property sales due to foreclosure or unpaid taxes.

Credit Restoration: We provide clients with resources to improve their credit scores, which is often impacted by foreclosure and financial distress.

Financial Planning & Education: We offer financial literacy workshops and personalized planning to help clients regain financial stability and security.

By combining financial recovery with education and planning, we aim to ensure that clients are equipped to navigate future financial challenges, helping them rebuild their lives and protect their assets for generations to come. This comprehensive approach sets us apart from traditional asset recovery companies, as we focus not just on reclaiming funds, but on long-term empowerment and financial education.

Our work is deeply rooted in helping clients regain confidence, restore their financial well-being, and preserve family legacies, especially those from African and Caribbean communities facing foreclosure or economic hardship.
Are you Caribbean or African, or of Caribbean or African descent? If you are, please tell us details.
Yes, I am of Haitian descent. My mother, a single mother of three, came to the United States from Haiti with little formal education. She couldn’t read or write, but she understood the profound importance of education. Despite her challenges, she instilled in us the value of learning and always emphasized the Christian principles of living righteously and treating others with fairness and respect. Her determination to provide a better life for her children has been a driving force in my own life and business. It is because of her sacrifices that I am motivated to help others, especially those from Caribbean and African backgrounds, navigate financial challenges and reclaim what is rightfully theirs. Her legacy of resilience and empowerment continues to inspire the work I do today.
Do you think your Caribbean or African upbringing/heritage has impacted your work? If so, please explain how.
Yes, my Caribbean heritage has had a significant impact on my work. Growing up as the child of a Haitian immigrant, I learned the values of resilience, perseverance, and community from a young age. My mother, despite not having formal education, always emphasized the importance of doing better for ourselves and our community. She instilled in us the understanding that success isn’t just about individual achievement, but about lifting others up along the way.

This mindset directly influences my work with Overage Surplus Recovery. I approach my business with a strong commitment to helping people from African and Caribbean communities regain what is rightfully theirs, whether that’s surplus funds, financial stability, or a chance to rebuild their credit. My heritage has taught me to value legacy, preserve assets for future generations, and offer support to those in need.

Additionally, my upbringing has shaped my belief in the importance of fairness, justice, and doing business with integrity. These values guide my interactions with clients and are woven into the services I provide. I strive to empower others, particularly in my community, to navigate financial challenges and secure a brighter future, just as my mother did for me, even when faced with adversity.
How does your work positively impact culture + community?
My work with Overage Surplus Recovery positively impacts culture and community by empowering individuals, particularly within the African and Caribbean communities, to regain their financial stability and preserve their family legacies. Through our services, we help families recover surplus funds from tax and mortgage foreclosures, ensuring that money rightfully owed to them is reclaimed.

Beyond the financial aspect, I focus on educating and guiding clients in financial literacy, credit restoration, and long-term financial planning. This helps individuals build sustainable financial futures and avoid future financial hardships. By doing so, I am directly contributing to breaking cycles of poverty and financial instability that disproportionately affect many in marginalized communities.

Additionally, my work emphasizes the importance of legacy and asset protection, particularly in African and Caribbean families, where generational wealth building is often overlooked. I see my work not only as a financial recovery service but as a means to foster resilience, educate the community, and empower families to make informed decisions that will have lasting impacts for generations to come.

By providing these holistic services, I help to instill confidence and hope, ensuring that clients are not only recovering funds but also learning how to navigate their financial futures with dignity and strength. This creates a ripple effect within the community, where more people become financially informed, empowered, and able to contribute to the prosperity and well-being of their families and communities.
What message of hope or inspiration would you like to share with other women in our community who are also pursuing their dreams?
To all the women pursuing their dreams, especially those from African and Caribbean communities, I want to share this message: your resilience and strength are the foundation of your success. No matter where you come from, the challenges you face, or the obstacles in your way, you have the power to create change and achieve greatness.

My journey has been shaped by the sacrifices of my mother, who taught me the value of perseverance, education, and fairness. I want you to remember that no dream is too big and no goal is too far out of reach. Every step you take, no matter how small, brings you closer to your vision. Stay committed to your purpose, stay grounded in your values, and remember that the road may be tough, but you are tougher.

Let your story be one of hope and inspiration for others. Your success not only uplifts you, but also paves the way for future generations. Keep pushing forward, and always believe in the power of your dreams. The world needs your unique talents, your voice, and your vision. Keep striving, keep believing, and keep shining.
