Yes. Caribbean women take pride in their beauty. Various hairstyles expresses who we are.
How does your work positively impact culture + community?
Beauty is a major contributor to the cosmetic industry” and as Caribbean women, we take pride in how we present ourselves, especially by the way we wear our hair. Oftentimes referred to as our “crowning glory”, hair and beauty expresses who we are.

BeautifyME Hair Studio was birthed out of a desire to honour my late mother’s legacy as a hairstylist. As a child, my passion developed as I watched mummy transform women by doing their hair. Women of all walks of life ventured to her salon and left with smiles on their faces. I wanted to do that for women. I needed to put smiles on their faces.

Being a Cosmetologist for the past 7 years and of recent a Trichologist, affords me the opportunity to carry on my mother’s legacy, while creating my own niche.

Daily I encounter many women with life stories that have suppressed their inner beauty, causing them not to care much or have the energy to enhance their outer beauty. Thus a hub, sanctuary and a safe space was created to give women an opportunity to release and experience what God has freely given to me. A gift that flows from my hands but impacts many heads and hearts.

Inner healing outer beauty. A Holistic approach to hair and beauty.
What message of hope or inspiration would you like to share with other women in our community who are also pursuing their dreams?
Vision precedes passion, but in some instances like mine, passion preceded vision. In other words, I knew as a child that I wanted to be a beautician, I didn’t have a clear vision, but passion was within. The vision came later. I wrote it down, then pursued it.

Write your vision down, then strategically pursue it.
