| iCreate Concepts offers hand crafted crocheted items for all genders, ages and size. We offer hats, bags, beach dress cover ups, vest, baby blankets, earrings and other accessories. Additional, we have been offering crochet classes every Friday. |

| I am a Barbadian of African descent. Barbados is in the Caribbean and is predominantly populated by people of African descent. |
| Do you think your Caribbean or African upbringing/heritage has impacted your work? If so, please explain how. |
| Yes. Embracing my African heritage and my femininity; encompassing ma’at and honing my ajé. As I have grown I am putting the things that I am learning into practical use within my designs striving to create pieces that embody uniqueness, pride and of course aesthetic beauty. One of my mentors and a leader in African fashion history is Merira Kwesi, and she says about fashion that “(it) is an area where we see visual imagery through symbolism” ,and through each piece I try to capture elements of our ancestry using fashion to communicate and tell the story of self, my community and my people. |
| How does your work positively impact culture + community? |
| Tutoring weekly and offering most unsolicited mentorship. In this way I think that the crochet classes provide an avenue for economic freedom. Also, crochet therapy helps to boost neurological and cognitive abilities. Additionally, I have entered my work in Barbados’ National Arts competition and gain bronze and silver medals for my Crochet art works – Handicraft. In this instance, I think that through artistic expression it showcases the art form but also exposes people to varying artistic forms. |

| What message of hope or inspiration would you like to share with other women in our community who are also pursuing their dreams? |
| As a woman I see order in creation and by creating. My personal power comes from knowing self. Through introspection I have realized that I ultimately set the standard for how I shine my light and this light of mine can not be extinguished by anyone. |
