| Absolutely! I take immense pride in my Caribbean heritage. The structure, discipline, and values instilled in me during my upbringing have been instrumental in shaping who I am today. Growing up in a culture that emphasized resilience, hard work, and the pursuit of excellence gave me the drive and tenacity to achieve my educational and professional goals. My parents’ unwavering support and their belief in the transformative power of education, coupled with their determination to fulfill the American Dream, deeply inspired me. Their sacrifices and encouragement fueled my motivation to pursue entrepreneurship and create a meaningful impact. I firmly believe that without the foundation laid by my Caribbean upbringing—one rooted in grit, ambition, and an enduring sense of community—I wouldn’t possess the same determination and courage to chase my dreams with such passion. |
| How does your work positively impact culture + community? |
| My work addresses a critical need in breaking the stigma surrounding sexual health, particularly in communities where open conversations about sex remain deeply taboo—such as in Caribbean culture and other communities of color. Despite the silence, we know people are engaging in sexual activity, often unprotected, as evidenced by the alarming rise in STD rates, disproportionately affecting our communities according to the latest 2023 data. This increase isn’t due to promiscuity or hypersexuality, as stereotypes may suggest. Instead, it stems from systemic barriers: stigma, the desire for privacy, and limited access to timely, high-quality sexual health services. Traditional healthcare often involves lengthy waits and public exposure, discouraging many from seeking care. By leveraging telehealth, my work removes these barriers, offering a discreet, convenient, and accessible way for individuals to address their sexual health concerns. Patients can connect with certified sexual health experts quickly and privately, without sacrificing quality. This approach not only meets the need for privacy but also ensures our community receives the care and support they deserve, fostering healthier, more informed, and empowered individuals. In doing so, we challenge taboos, promote open dialogue, and create lasting positive change for the culture and community. |
| What message of hope or inspiration would you like to share with other women in our community who are also pursuing their dreams? |
| My message is simple: always bet on yourself. Dream boldly and believe that what is meant for you will come to fruition as long as you show up, stay consistent, and put in the work. Remember the strength of your ancestors—their resilience, courage, and ability to overcome challenges far greater than we can imagine. That same greatness flows through your veins. Your existence is not by chance. Generations before you came together in a unique and extraordinary way to bring you here, at this very moment, with this dream in your heart. You are here for a reason, and your vision has a purpose. As you pursue your dreams, trust that the universe will align to guide you on your path. Yes, the journey will be tough, but greatness is never born from ease. Keep going, even when it’s hard, and know that every step you take brings you closer to the life you’ve envisioned.
