Describe your business, nonprofit or project, and the products and/or services you offer?
Since 2012, KAFEDORE are doing some creative inspiring work & some unique, eco-friendly pieces that resonate with people and make them feel authentic. At the beginning, we started by designing jewelry only & two years ago, we introduced our hand-painted T-shirts and limited-edition leather bags. Our creations draw inspiration from Haiti’s history, African traditions, and the inspiring women who lived before and after Haiti’s independence. Our T-shirts in particular, represents these free women who their voices allowing us to speak about freedom today. History, culture and environment are at the heart of our designs. Through a pair of earrings, we tell the story of our country, and the Afrocentricity in our designs can be felt. Creating in this way is my tribute to our ancestors, those who taught me that battles are never won; we must continue to assert our place where others try to deny it. Currently, we work with ALASOLEY, our non-profit organization, supporting women who have experienced violence. We provide a collective space for healing trauma and a safe environment for creative exchange among sisters & allowing them to express themselves and break the silence together.
Are you Caribbean or African, or of Caribbean or African descent? If you are, please tell us details.
I was born in Haiti and currently living in Haiti & i never left this country. Yes, I’m Caribbean & also African descent. Haiti is a part of Africa, the same way Africa is a part of Haiti, and we can’t deny it. My ancestors are Africans.
Do you think your Caribbean or African upbringing/heritage has impacted your work? If so, please explain how.
Yes & yes & proud about the fact that my African descent has a big impact on my whole life & work. I’m in an era with a generation of people in Haiti who are talking about culture, ancestors, traditions and connections between African & Caribbean societies. Somehow, i think we should go deeper in producing soulful art & culture to understand the value of those beautiful works made before us. Our culture strengthens our character as people & nation and i create because of that.
How does your work positively impact culture + community?
Culture, tradition and history are at the center of my work, before the final work, there is a whole exchange with the team on what, why we should create a piece and the utility for my community and if it represents who I’m, my community, my country, my value and visions as feminist.
How should potential customers and persons interested in networking & partnerships contact you?

What message of hope or inspiration would you like to share with other women in our community who are also pursuing their dreams?
I don’t think that i have a more valuable message than everyone else. You just should know that no one owns you nothing, because of that you should try to make your one way and work for what you aspire to be. Yes, the world is full of opportunities, but i learned this is a full-time job also to get those opportunities. So, Ladies, don’t waste no more time in asking yourself if you should make the next step. Just do it.
